The BioStone Far Infrared Filter
In addition to filtering out impurities from tap water, the water ionizer passes tap water through the 'BioStone', a ceramic formed of the semi-precious mineral Tourmaline. Tourmaline NATURALLY emits far infrared energy (FIR) and changes the surface tension of the water, making it easier to process for the ionizer by beginning the negative ion creation process. The immediate and powerful effect Tourmaline has on water improves the energy level of water. It acts like a 'supercharger', assisting with ionization and alkalinity. This increases the antioxidant effects of the alkaline water, without an accompanying increase in alkalinity. Tourmaline has been researched and found to activate animal and plant metabolism.

9 Levels of pH means greater choice for you and other users (4 levels of alkaline, 4 levels of acidic, and a purely filtered setting). It allows you to take advantage of higher alkaline pH levels when cooking, to make greens greener, rice fluffier and coffee and tea more flavorful.  The varying levels of acid water may be used for an astringent for your skin, plants love a little acidity, excellent for treating topical wounds, hygiene and more. The .1M Biostone Filter means that not only is your water filtered of impurities to the very finest possible degree, but it is also preconditioned by reduction of surface tension for maximum negative ion production during ionization. The Melody Ionizer comes with the .1 micron Biostone Filter, however when you are ready for a replacement filter, you can upgrade to the .01 Biostone ultra filter, or the Biostone Plus filter for 99.9% contaminant removal specifically for chemically treated city water.

A stainless steel top spout may seem a small thing until you actually use an Ionizer without one. Some ionizers output their ionized water via plastic hose back to the tap and out. The kitchen tap is one of the most bacteria-laden zones in the kitchen. Furthermore, a top-mounted spout allows you to pour water anywhere; a real help when the sink is full of dishes, or when you want to fill a large bottle.

Voice confirmation alerts you to any change of pH. This safety feature can also be reduced in volume or turned off once you have learned how to use the Ionizer properly.

Filter usage Liquid Crystal display means you can see at a glance how much filter life you have left. Although not an actual measure of filter life, it's a handy indicator of longevity that you can use to assess when to order a new filter. Generally, filters should be replaced every 9 to 12 months.

Optional ability to connect direct to water main under your sink means you really don't even need your Melody attached to your sink faucet.
