Research shows that a pH level of 8.5 to 9.5 is best for drinking alkaline water, with an ORP of -250mv.  Large –ORP numbers at a high level of pH are not important. For most people, alkaline water over 10 pH does not taste good because of the heavy concentration of minerals. What is important, is to drink alkaline ionized water more at the pH8.5 - pH9.5 levels, with good -ORP. Of course the Athena ionizer will create the big -ORP numbers at the higher pH ranges, however this ionizer is calculated to give you the best ORP at the lower levels of pH, and with excellent taste.
