This filter, consisting of calcite, is used where water pH level drops below 6.5, corrosive water is a concern, or in applications where water comes in contact with metallic piping. It is also used for the re-mineralization of softened water. The filter housing is available for both counter top and undersink ionizers. Only the calcite filter should be replaced every six to nine months (RO+ filter $35.00). The Undersink installation is the same as the Counter Top installation, except you mount the filter under the sink upside down.
